Awake intubation???? OMG! No way!
Are you on any protein supplements??? I know that losing your hair is a major issue due to reduced protein.

Re: We're all with you, Gotti!
i have to have at least 60g protein everyday...i found awesome protein shakes that are 30g 1g sugar per individual carton, so it helps right now.
I had yogurt last night while I was on the phone with JC......OMG it was soooo good!!!! LMAO .....
As i can eat more things getting protein from other sources other than the shake will be easy but i think ill always drink one in am's then protein always in.
And yes awake intubation...it wasnt that bad just the gargle stuff. In case your in interested heres my play by play!!! LMAO
So around noon i go upstairs to the surgery area. I lay down in this room and was told it will be a bit and to try and relax. The nurses must have given me something when they gave me some tylenol, pain meds and a blood pressure med before i went up. Cause i was very calm didnt feel anyway at all.
Dr Christou came asked how i was feeling said he would get started in 10 min and if i had questions or concerns. I said nope im good.
I was then walked thru recovery into the OR laid down on the table and then all of asudden a whole bunch of people doing stuff. Someone putting in the IV, another blood pressure cuff, another putting these heavy things on my legs that would massage them to prevent bloodclots (lol....i always laugh when i say that word...such another meaning!! )
felt good on the legs, then I was told i had to gargle and swirl around in my mouth this god awful stuff thick like glue to help freeze my mouth and throat while they spray lanocain to help the freezing as well. Can I tell you nasty!!!!
So I did that twice for 1.5 minutes each, then they put a plastic thing in my mouth and saw the camera going down my throat, not feeling a thing, i saw at the end tape and when it reached my nose i guess th, next thing i remember is in recovery asking for water my lips were sooo dry and i was thirsty. I then fell asleep again and woke up in my room.
Not in pain, but some discomfort from the gas, had oxygen going in my nose. I took pain meds 3 times over 2 days only for the discomfort no real pain i would say. I was able to sleep on my side from that first night. The second day they had us shower that evening, felt good to be clean again.
The clinic i had mine done is a private plastics clinic so only 17 beds 1 nurse per patient

Wow, girl!!! That's something. I wonder if the nasty stuff you drank was like that barium swallow I had to drink when I had my scopes done(endo and colo). Ugghhh!!! Isn't it something when they put you out? You don;t remember anything.

They do it so that you can't swallow -- or gag or cough when they're passing the camera down your throat. Barium Swallow, I've heard, is HORRIBLE on BOTH ends!
